PHOTOSHOOT, AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

BRIEF

A21 is an international organisation working to eliminate human trafficking and abolish injustice in the 21st Century. In 2015 the organisation had 11 offices in 10 countries, including Norway. You can read more about them here: http://www.a21.org/
Your job is to design a poster for A21 for a public awareness campaign targeted towards Norwegians. The purpose of this campaign is to get people to change their attitudes towards this subject as well as to create awareness around the issue. Remember, awareness campaigns often use intellect and emotion to highlight their messages.
The poster should showcase a name, slogan and any additional text you would like to add. The “hero” of the poster should, however, be an impactful photograph. Ask a friend, fellow student or family member to model for you. The photos can be taken outdoors or indoors using mainly natural light. If you would like to, you may use external flashes to supplement the natural light. You may also create illustrations and graphics for your poster as long as it does not distract from the photograph.

CONCEPT

I wanted to take an image with a lot of emotions to show the pain and suffering caused by human trafficking. I wanted to have a woman sitting in the park looking away in pain, remembering what had happened to her. I wanted her to be vulnerable and sad, but at the same time I wanted to show some empowerment in her expression. I want the photo to show some sadness but also some relief and a sense of hope since she has been saved. I wanted to make a poster that both expressed hope and hopelessness at the same time if that makes sence. I wanted to show that you can help people get out of these situations and that if you are in this type of situation you can get help to get out of it.

I told the model to look away in the distant and think about something sad that had happened to her. She took the task seriously and I took some great photographs that I thought was powerful.
